The Key to Postpartum Weight Loss

Postpartum body image is a hard. Anyone feel me? You look in the mirror and see this deflated tire that is now your tummy, dark circles under your eyes, saggy boobs and stretch marks on your thighs (still wondering how that happens since I didn’t carry a baby in my left leg). Are you still looking for the magic key to postpartum weight loss?

[ReviewDisclaimer]

I am amazed that my body conceived, carried and naturally gave birth to two beautiful babies.

I’m equally thankful I was able to breastfeed them both. Because we wanted these babies, I was more than happy to have my body go through these changes so I could have two beautiful, healthy children! What I wasn’t ready for was the challenge of postpartum weight loss.

As much as I am a mom, I am still me. And that ‘me’ was super uncomfortable with how I looked in the mirror. That lack of confidence showed. I felt very out of place around my skinny friends, I wore clothing that was meant for women twice my age and if it wasn’t pitch black in the bedroom it wasn’t happening…y’all know what I’m talking about.

My lack of confidence had absolutely nothing to do with my friends, my clothes, having kids or my husband.  I just didn’t like who I saw getting in and out of the shower. I remember several times looking at myself in the mirror and sighing…wishing I didn’t look the way I did.

I needed to do something about it. I needed the to find the key to postpartum weight loss and swore I would pass it on to my friends when I figured it out. Rachel was done breastfeeding and it was time for me to focus on me! Enter operation: LOOK GOOD NAKED, my motto for this whole journey! #lgn

My sister introduced me to a 30 day challenge, even though I was never up for any type of “program.” My thoughts were “just eat clean and gluten free and exercise then you can lose the weight.” I immediately thought to myself… “how well is that working out for you right now, Trish?” Well…It wasn’t.

I have kids and a full time job and I didn’t have the time or energy to meal prep and workout and do laundry, clean toilets, wash dishes etc. etc. etc!

I needed simplicity but I also needed results and I got them both!

30 days in I lost 15 lbs and 18 inches.  I could not believe it! I, addition, I gained a huge amount of natural energy…basically I turned into a unicorn! That was just enough to make me realize I was in for the long haul.

Since my first 30 days, my “program” has changed a bit but the nutrition has stayed the same and my results are even better now. I have the energy to play and run wild with the kids; I am back lifting in the gym and most importantly I feel like ‘me’ again!
