We're all handling the quarantine a little differently- which one of us are you the most like?

Welcome to August 2020, where America has been mostly stuck in their homes since March, unable to travel, go to the gym, hang out with extended family, go to school or even remotely make plans for the rest of the year. Insert Zoom meetings, Zoom workouts, Zoom wine tastings, Zoom baby showers, Zoom School and the 5 Kinds of (tired) Quarantine Mamas.

Everyone is navigating being stuck at home differently (and yes, we realize there’s a great reason for us to stay at home and our complaints are tiny, relatively speaking). Some of us love it, some of us hate it, but a few things remain the same: our grocery budgets are completely busted and our need to socialize with someone about something other than Ana & Elsa and their need for a snack is at an all time high.

All 5 of the Poms2Moms ladies have been on quite a hiatus during the quarantine. We thought it would be great time to get ahead on home projects, keep up with our blog and be ultra organized and even try some of those new recipes we have been wanting to try. But no, we are literally just keeping our heads above water trying to socially distance ourselves from our kids and find a quiet corner (or closet) in our house for self care time. Who knew being at home is more work than…. working? (looking at you SAHMs!)

We decided the best way to return to our blogging is to make it a light-hearted, [maybe] funny, relatable post. Here are our 5 kinds of quarantine mamas:

-Double Working Parent Household Mom

Wait, my kids are returning to school WHEN? WE HAVE TO WORK! Quarantine was sweet for a little while until there was no end in site for returning to normalcy. I need an IV drip of coffee while trying to juggle working from home, making sure my kids are doing more than binge watching TV, working out to stay remotely healthy, keep up with cleaning, laundry, and house projects. Is this over yet?

If you relate to this quarantine mama, you and Jenny have something in common!

-Hot and Cold Quarantine Mama

SWEET, I hope work never opens back up and I can work from home forever. Wait, except for my husband- when does he go back to work? I haven’t worn pants in 5 months and my foundation bottle is still filled to the BRIM.  But entertaining a single child and working full time while my husband is on the phone *all day* from the breakfast nook is NOT enjoyable. OH LOOK, something I don’t need on Amazon, *BUY NOW*. How many more Zoom meetings until I gouge my eyes out? At least we have a pool! When is my husband going back to the office again?

-I´m Not A Home School Mom, Mom:

If Kindergarten entails jumping on the trampoline, hitting the pool and water color paintings, I’m in GREAT shape! Unfortunately, I’m one of the unlucky ones who has a babe starting Kindergarten in the fall and I’m a little sad she won’t get the full Kindergarten experience like I had envisioned. What I know FOR SURE is that I’m NO home school mama! I’ve spent quarantine anxiously pondering what the heck I’m going to do for my Kindergartner and worrying how I’ll manage potentially homeschooling, watching little sister, AND working.

If you have an upcoming Kindergartner and have lost sleep over school plans, you and Kaitlin are one in the same!

-What Quarantine? Mom

I’ve heard everyone had to press pause on their life for a bit but that means very little for my household. Our schools are closed but Mrs. Trisha’s Homeschool Academy ain’t! I had already made the decision to home-school my kids last year and we’re off and running on our curriculum. This quarantine mama is *nearly* un-phased. The only thing I’m missing is the extra time with my family but don’t worry, we’ve figured out how to socially distance any kind of family event!

If you’re life hasn’t changed too much during quarantine, Trisha has a similar experience!

-Maternity Leave Mama

When the stars align perfectly, you end up on maternity leave during the quarantine. Let’s be honest, “maternity leave” is VERY similar to quarantine. My sweet little meatball arrived about 2 months in to the stay at home orders and I hit the actual jackpot. Why you say? Being able to work from home for a few weeks before having a baby is an actual dream come true. After the baby arrived, I got to completely focus on family and my newborn. I didn’t worry about work and *all the changes* going on in the world. AND THEN, once I was ready to return to work, all I have to do is open my laptop from my couch because… the world is still quarantining!

If you had a baby during quarantine, Cayla is your girl!

Newborn-Baby-And-Mom

Being stuck at home with no end in sight has been quite a challenge for all of us. The silver lining is beautiful, though; when else would we have had this length of time to enjoy our family, catch our kids “firsts”, snuggle after nap time, and watch them grow before our eyes? It’s hard for the adults, but I think I speak for everyone when I say the kids absolutely love being home with their families day in and day out.

Find that corner, lock the door, and take a few deep breaths. We will get through this quarantine together, mama!
