The Cutest Shabby Chic DIY Crib Mobile For Little Girls

I kept seeing all of these really cute mobiles on Pinterest and Etsy and decided I had to have one in my little one’s nursery… until I saw the price tag. There’s no way I was going to pay $30 + shipping fees for a cute accessory my baby will likely not care too much about. I knew I could probably make one just as cute and exactly the way I wanted it (to match her room perfectly).  I am proud to announce it cost less than $15 to make my own DIY crib mobile and looks just as good – if not better – than a store bought one.

[ReviewDisclaimer]

Here’s what you need to purchase:

  • Wicker Wreath – $4.99, 50% off = $2.49
  • Ribbon, at least 4 different types – $1 to $2 each = $6.00 (I recommend using different textures and colors, ex: lace, beads, etc)
  • Greenery and Flowers – $8.99 for flowers, $3.99 for greenery, 50% off = $6.48

Total = $14.97!!

Here’s what you will need but probably already have:

And if you’re not planning on going anywhere for the rest of the day… an optional wine pairing:

  • Cut your ribbon to the desired length. I used 18 inch pieces, it will be 2 almost 9 inch pieces.
  • String your ribbon half-way through the the pieces of wicker on the inner side of the circle. Tie a knot to secure your ribbon.
  • (I would do one type of ribbon at a time so that you make sure they are evenly spaced.)

  • Once you finish the ribbon, move on to the flowers and greenery.  Use your scissors to cut them from the base (some of them pull off).

  • Start playing around with how you want to position your flowers and greenery. The stem ends should stick right into the wicker.
  • Once you have your positions in place, take them out one by one, put hot glue on the ends, and place them back.

  • Get some clear fishing line (I used pink ribbon just so you could see what to do).
  • String it through 4 of the thicker branches on the wicker ring (it should be in the shape of a square and cross the middle)
  • Make a secure knot because this is going to be hanging over your little one.

To hang it from the ceiling I used:
