Slash Your Debt With These Remote Side Hustles

Are you looking to get rid some monthly bills by finding a remote side hustle?

Easier said than done, my friend! Almost every parent I know wishes they could find a job to support their family while staying home caring for their children. It’s the ultimate WIN! I was lucky enough to have flexible job that allowed me to work from home AND avoid expensive daycare bills. Want that, too? You’ve come to the right place!

Realizing I needed to get my finances in better order (let’s be honest, we could ALL spend less and save more), I fell into the cult that is Dave Ramsey. I  listen to his podcast everyday and have completely immersed myself in financial knowledge. You don’t know what you don’t know… and now I know A LOT more about finances.

I decided the best way for me to set myself up to win was to have more income and that’s when my remote side hustle came to life.

Dave-Ramsey-Quote

I’m in a few Dave Ramsey Facebook groups of people following his program and that’s how I found my side hustle. And let me tell you, the people in this group KNOW how to hustle and are budgeting wizards.  I wanted to find something I could do from home without interrupting my family or needing regular childcare. AND, I REFUSE to sell ANYTHING. Just NO! No MLM, no harassing my friends, and no “maybe” making money.

I stumbled across VIPKid, an English as a second language company that hires American teachers to teach Chinese students how to speak English completely online. This was perfect for me because I have a Bachelor’s degree and experience with children, which is amazingly the only thing the company requires. If you’ve heard about it and toyed with the idea of applying, you have nothing to lose!

I can set my own schedule, take off when I need to, and make extra money… ALL from the comfort of my own home! What’s even better is I used the extra money  I made to double up payments and COMPLETELY pay off my student loan (!!) AND a credit card that had a pretty hefty balance. Nowadays, I don’t need the income but I still genuinely love the job, so I’m still at it,  just not as much. I use the extra money to save up for family trips or my champagne taste in shoes and bags.

What would you do with NO payments in the world?

Even if you don’t have a Bachelor’s degree, there are TONS of remote side hustles out there for you. Imagine what it would be like to work from home, take care of your kids AND contribute to your family.

So, how do you find these remote side hustles?

I’ve compiled a huge list of companies that hire people for part time AND full time remote positions! If you’re looking for a job from home, you absolutely HAVE to check out the list I have created. Go to their website and check the job board to see what they have available. CLICK THE PICTURE BELOW for access to the list… (subscribers, it’s in your email!)

It is so interesting how many opportunities there are today to work remotely from home. The option of doing so allows people to help pay bills as you mention, but it also always people to work from home, set up their own businesses, link to other company and businesses etc. Really there is so much one can do now if one has imagination and initiative. It must be very interesting to connect with the youth from another country!

I literally thought it was too good to be true when I found it! Make sure you find someone to coach you through the process- much easier to get hired that way. If you need some guidance, shoot me an email or DM on Instagram!

I have several friends who do VIP Kid, and they LOVE it! Your story of paying off your student loans is very inspiring!

I LOVE it! It’s so easy to forget if you’ve had a bad day by teaching someone how to speak English. They are genuinely so excited about everything in America. It takes hard work and discipline but I was so thrilled to give Sallie Mae the eviction notice!

Oh gosh, if I could find a side hustle that let me save more money, that would be awesome. I have a lot of student loans so it will take awhile to pay off but every little bit helps. I tried to sign up with my email for your list but it wasn’t working? You’re welcome to use my email to sign me up if you’re able as I’d love to see your list – lauren51990 AT aol DOT com

Hey Lauren! Sorry about that! I will send you that e-mail right over. Student loans are SO annoying and there’s verrrrry few people that don’t have any. I swore to myself once I paid it off I will do whatever it takes to make sure my daughter’s education is paid for in full (scholarships, hopefully!). Check out Dave Ramsey also! He is a HUGE help and there’s a great community.

Thanks for this great list! My husband just had to leave work due to medical issues, so I’m looking for ways to help make up the difference.

I’ve heard of VIPkid but I haven’t been brave enough to try it out. I was skeptical that it was just another side hustle that doesn’t actually pan out. I’m glad to hear that it’s for real though!

    • Shelley | 17th Jul 18

Hey Laura, I thought the same thing too but I had nothing to loose. It does have it’s slow periods and they don’t guarantee you bookings but I’ve never had to try real hard to get kids. It’s definitely a great option!

Wow! Extensive list! I love the variety that remote work offers. I work full-time as a writer, but have had side gigs as a transcriber, editor, game tester, voice actor and more. It’s a good way to keep things interesting.

  14. Anitra | 28th Aug 19

I’ve heard some great things about VIPKid. It sounds like a great work at home opportunity.

  15. Emily | 28th Aug 19

I looked into VIPKid when I first decided to start working from home and it looked like a great company. I never pursued it because I took a different path, but it’s always on my radar in case I need a little extra income later on.

I love working from home through small and large side hustles. It makes a huge difference on debt levels and freedom. I recently counted that I have 17 streams of income. A person said I should do something for them because I don’t have a job. I let them know I have 17! LOL
