6 Game-Changer Mommy Makeup Hacks

Upon having a new baby, everyone tells you how little you will sleep, how in love you will be, and how nothing else in the world will matter. While all of this is true, no one tells you how absolutely terrible you will look and feel.

Being released from jail (hospital) is a temporary victory.  “YAY, I get to go home and sleep in my own bed and take a nice shower!” (LOL). The reality is, your lady parts feel like they were [amazon_textlink asin=’B0006GWSTO’ text=‘dipped in the devil’s wine glass‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’poms2moms-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’6ea7b62a-7d84-11e8-a3d3-194b7c8a675e’], your skin is pale, your eyes have dark circles, your hair is a mess and [amazon_textlink asin=’B00K7IOAT2′ text=’let’s not even talk about the deflated stomach‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’poms2moms-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’880f7730-7d84-11e8-a32e-fd2f4c7923af’].

We’re a group of six ladies who met in college and shared the bathroom together for YEARS before becoming parents. We have gotten ready and spent HOURS together in front of the mirror… aka – pretty experienced in the “dolling up” department. Between the six of us, we’ve done a lot of makeup and encountered a lot of “trial & error” of products.  Trust us, we know how to pretend we’ve got it all together.

So, what does it take to go anywhere without the “mom zombie” look?  We’ve compiled 6 of our absolute must-have items to be a fresh-faced Mom who “might-not-have-it-all-together-but-at-least-it-looks-like-it”.

1.) Anastasia Beverly Hills Bronzer Palette

This stuff gives me LIFE!  I love that it comes in different shades and compliments your contouring. I throw it on EVERYDAY with a [amazon_textlink asin=’B004GEJMFU’ text=’small brush ‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’poms2moms-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’d6279889-7e07-11e8-8105-111c73de50e4′]before leaving the house and it gives me a quick, youthful glow.

Better yet, I’ve had this same palette (hence why it looks beat up in the pic) for two years now and it’s still got A LOT of life in it!  Best $40 I ever spent!

2.) Bobbi Brown Under Eye Corrector

When you try to remove the smudged mascara from under your eyes and then you realize… [amazon_textlink asin=’B016OVYT3W’ text=’they’re your under-eyes‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’poms2moms-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’f09f90aa-7e07-11e8-9ab9-d56edf68cb84′].

Did anyone else’s 30th birthday instantly age them? It was as if the clock struck 12 and the years of irresponsible [amazon_textlink asin=’B007U54P36′ text=’sunscreen application‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’poms2moms-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’0b6b9cf6-7e08-11e8-b57c-2564bd35985f’] and pathetic skincare regime sent my youth packing like Cinderella from the ball.

Luckily around this time, a fellow/former ASU cheerleader happened to share her Bobbi Brown Corrector before/after on Instagram, and I’ve been a believer ever since! Let me rephrase… I. DO. NOT. LEAVE. THE. HOUSE. WITHOUT. THIS.

3.) Mary Kay Satin Lips & Rimmel Lip Stain

No matter if I’m sitting around the house, running to the grocery store, or going out for a party or get-together, I need to have something on my lips. Even just chapstick seals the deal for me. One of my favorite lip products that offers the softest and most luxurious feel is Mary Kay’s Satin Lips. Seriously, Heaven for your lips!

Adding something to your lips, especially a product with a good pop of color, doesn’t leave my face looking like I’ve had the flu for a month.

I tend to favor more nude/brown colors that pair well with my skin tone, but always love experimenting with bold and bright colors as well. One of my favorite fun and vibrant-colored products, that lasts for hours, is this Rimmel Lip Color.

4.) Younique Moodstruck Mascara & Rodan & Fields Lash Boost

Over the years I’ve noticed people only ask me  “are you tired?” when I have forgotten my mascara! So now, I don’t go anywhere without it! I have tubes in my car, my purse, my desk – even the hubby’s pick-up!

When I’m feeling more glamorous I’m going for my Younique mascara.  It instantly brightens my eyes and gives me a long lash look that I love.

I also love Rodan & Fields Lash Boost. So easy just put it on at night before bed and I’ve seen a huge difference in length and volume. My lashes are very grateful for this stuff!

5.) TRESemme Dry Shampoo

I wear my hair back in a bun 5 days a week, and the game changer between appearing frazzled, like a greaseball, or all over washed-up is managing to slick it back with the perfect volume.

Cue the key ingredient.  Thanks dry shampoo!

However, I’m quite particular about the smell. Why do they always smell so weird?  And poignant! Dry shampoo sits too close to the face to be hanging around with that odor all day.

My one and only is TRESemme. (It isn’t Suave. It isn’t Herbal Essences. Those fail my smell-test.) TRESemme hits the volume, refreshing criteria without giving me a headache.

6.) Revlon ColorStay Eyebrow Pencil

Eyebrows. I cannot walk out of the house without drawing on those bad boys.  My hair is naturally dark but for some reason my brow hair is nearly invisible.  I have tried all the pencils out there and at all different price points.

I always keep this brow pencil in my purse or car for emergency situations.  Pro Tip: I ALWAYS have a backup pencil. The absolute worst thing in the world is drawing on one eyebrow, moving to the next and realizing your pencil is “out”.

Going to check out the under eye corrector. Always looking for anything that gives a fast and fresh look in the morning.

Lauren, I couldn’t be more dead serious about it. Send us an email to poms2moms@gmail.com and I’d be happy to send you a before and after pic wearing it. The full (but non-cakey coverage) is a mom’s best friend!

Lauren, I’m going to try it too — my friends have convinced me! haha

Same! I use it on my brows as well, (hardcore victim of the 90’s overplucking here) and it’s the only product that’s getting them back!
